Activate Measurement in Google Marketing Platform

Activating our real-time Footfall Measurement product in Google

Set up Adsquare’s Measurement product in Google Marketing Platform (GMP), including DV360 and Campaign Manager 360.


Information Required

To activate Adsquare Measurement in GMP, ensure you provide:

  • Service Agreement: Signed agreement with Adsquare to use Measurement in GMP (DV360 and Campaign Manager).

  • List of POIs (locations): Send to Adsquare or discuss with your Adsquare representative if unavailable.

  • Floodlight Activities IDs: Created in Campaign Manager (see below for setup details).

  • Custom Floodlight Variables: The type IDs (e.g., u1, u2) used in your Floodlight configuration.

  • Campaign Dates: Ensure your timeline is provided to Adsquare.

Send this information to your Adsquare Account Manager or contact Adsquare Support at client-services@adsquare.com.


Setting Up Measurement in GMP

Below are the steps you need to take to begin measuring in-store visits in real-time.


A. Setting Up Measurement with Adsquare

  1. Sign a Service Agreement

    • Ensure your agreement with Adsquare is signed to activate Footfall Measurement.

  2. Provide Your List of POIs

    • Share all the locations you want to measure with Adsquare.

    • If you don’t have a list ready, discuss your requirements with your Adsquare representative.


B. Setting Up Measurement in Google Marketing Platform (Campaign Manager 360)

  1. Grant User Access to Adsquare

    • Provide email consent to your GMP Account Manager to allow Adsquare to send data to your Campaign Manager account.

    • Inform your GMP Account Manager that you wish to enable the Adsquare + Campaign Manager integration for footfall measurement/store visits.

    • Your GMP Account Manager will send you an email asking for confirmation.


Grant Adsquare User Access to Post Offline Conversions

    • Navigate to: Admin > User Roles > New.

    • User Role Name: Offline API Access.

    • Source User Role: Advertiser/Reporting Login.

    • Permissions: Unselect all boxes except “Insert offline conversions”.

Click Save.

Note: If “Insert offline conversions” doesn’t appear, contact Campaign Manager Support at dcm-support@google.com.


Create a New User Profile

  • Navigate to: Admin > User Profiles > New.

  • Profile Name: adsquare_Access.

  • User Role: Offline API Access.

  • Ensure full access to the floodlight.


2. Create Floodlight Activities & Share with Adsquare

Floodlight activities are the conversion tags used to track visits in Campaign Manager.


a. Configure Custom Floodlight Variables

  1. From an Advertiser, click > Floodlight > Configuration > Custom Floodlight Variables.

  2. Create the following variables:

    • adsquare_config_id (Type: String)

    • adsquare_poi_id (Type: String)

Note: If custom variables are already defined, add these at the next available slot.

  1. From an Advertiser, click Floodlight > Activity Groups > New: “adsquare”.

  2. Create Floodlight Activity:

    • Go to: Floodlight > Activities > + New.

    • Example Activity Name: Offline Conversion Tracking – In-Store Visit.

    • Type: Counter

    • Counting Method: Standard

    • Activate both custom variables (adsquare_config_id and adsquare_poi_id).

Note: If you want to upload the same conversions to both Campaign Manager Conversions API and Search Ads 360 API, create separate Floodlight activities for each API.

C. Communicate Information to Adsquare

Once the setup is complete, send the following information to Adsquare:

  1. Confirmation that all steps have been completed.

  2. Adsquare Access Profile ID.

  3. Floodlight Activities IDs.

  4. Type IDs of the custom variables (e.g., u1, u2).

  5. List of POIs for visitation measurement.

  6. Campaign Dates.

Send these details to your Adsquare Account Manager or Adsquare Support.

Setting up Offline Conversions in DV360

A. In Campaign Manager 360

  • Ensure your Floodlight configuration is complete.

  • Share the configuration with the Display & Video 360 partner.


B. In Display & Video 360

    • Ad server: “Display & Video 360 and third-party ad servers.”

    • Attribution settings: Select the appropriate Floodlight group.

    • Choose between:

      • Automatically create a linked Campaign Manager 360 site.

Add your own Campaign Manager 360 site(s).

Setup Reporting for Billing and Technical Monitoring

  1. Go to DV360 Reporting Interface and select “Offline Reporting”.

  2. Click “New Offline Report > Standard > Basic”.

  3. Under Report Properties > Date Range, select “Last 7 days”.

  4. Under Report Setup > Filters, select relevant Insertion Orders and/or Line Items.

  5. Add “Floodlight Activity ID” to both the Filter and Dimensions sections.

  6. Under Schedule, check the box “Active” and set it to repeat weekly.

  7. Under Delivery > Share With, add google_measurement@adsquare.com.

Click “Save.”

Troubleshooting

If conversions aren’t appearing:

  • Verify your settings (dates, POI list, data source).

  • Contact Adsquare Support if issues persist.
