Why are my datasets flagged as ‘Sensitive information’?

As we are a German company we comply with global privacy laws (such as GDPR and CCPA) and maintain high ethical standards, Adsquare automatically flags datasets containing sensitive information. Data falling into these categories is subject to stricter processing rules and may be restricted from certain uses to protect consumer privacy.

What is considered "Sensitive Information"?

Below are the key categories that trigger a sensitive flag:

  • Minors & Children: Any data relating to minors (under 16 in the EU/US; up to 21 in other regions based on local law).

  • Identity & Origin: Information regarding racial or ethnic origin, nationality, immigration status, or citizenship.

  • Beliefs & Affiliations: Political opinions, voting history, religious or philosophical beliefs, and trade union memberships.

  • Health & Wellness: Medical conditions, visits to health institutions, or lifestyle-inferred health data (e.g., tobacco shop visits).

  • Personal Life: Data revealing sexual orientation, sex life, or status as a victim/survivor of a crime.

  • Sensitive IDs: Government-issued identifiers (SSN, Passport, Driver's License) or financial information (Bank accounts, Credit cards).

  • Biometrics: Genetic data, fingerprints, retina patterns, or facial recognition data.

  • Private Content: The content of emails or text messages.

  • Precise Geolocation (US): For the US market, location data within a ~1,750–1,850 feet radius requires specific opt-in consent.

What happens if my data is flagged?

If your segments fall into these categories, they are not monetised and will be hidden from the public marketplace.

Next Steps:

  1. Review your Taxonomy: Ensure segments are labeled correctly and do not inadvertently include sensitive attributes.

  2. Consult Support: If you believe your data has been flagged in error, contact data@adsquare.com.
